What are you afraid of? Secure the bag.
It feels like yesterday was New Year's Eve and we were all making big plans for 2017 (at least I was) and today I look up and September is almost over. Where has the year gone? Christmas will be here before we know it. We are at a time where so many females are owning companies and starting businesses in a male dominated world. I accomplished some things on my list this year but not all. One of the biggest things I wanted to do this year is launch another company (this is still in the works) but I hear and see so many other girls I know say they want to do this and they want to do that. My question is...what is stopping you? What are you afraid of? Finances or lack there of? What other people will think or say? Maybe you don't know where to start.
The answer is simple. Start NOW. Do what you can. Use what you have. Fuck what people will think, even your family and friends. These will be some of your biggest doubters. You will never be successful in ANYTHING if you're always worried about what the next person thinks. You may lose "friends". So what. Figure out what your passion is. What you are good at. What sparks your interest. Write out a plan and hustle. A passion turned side hustle can turn into something bigger. Don't worry about certain markets being over saturated. Girl listen, there is so much money out there to be made. Find your lane and stay in it. If you are unemployed or living check to check or depending on someone else, that's even more reason to hustle. Don't be the chick who lives off her man or rides his coattail whether he's a business owner, works in corporate America, or is a dopeboy. Have some business about yourself. I'm not knocking anyone who works a 9 to 5 and doesn't want to own a business. Do what works for you.
Lastly, believe in yourself. Don't compare yourself to others. Don't doubt yourself. Don't worry about how slow your progress is. Sometimes you gotta shut Instagram down and get your mind right. Trust me, I've been there before. Instagram will kill your self esteem if you let it and are weak minded. Majority of people on the gram who appear to be doing well are flexing or fake. Not all, but some. Again, stay in your lane and don't doubt yourself. Just yesterday I went and got my lashes done by an elementary school friend who is just starting her lash company (she did a great job by the way (Annette (Evans) Green of Lavish Lashes)) and I asked her if she still did makeup. Her reply was no because she didn't think she was good enough. Listen, I might look like a mean bitch but I'm all about women empowerment. Self doubting is the worst thing you can do to yourself, especially as a woman. Practice your craft and never stop learning. The possibilities out here are endless. So to hell with the naysayers and haters. They are just too afraid to do what you are doing. Or jealous. Probably both. Life is too short to work 40 years for someone else just to pay bills and die. Whether you want to do hair, model, become a MUA, do lashes, clean houses, cater, paint walls, or sell dirt, whatever it is, do it. Don't be afraid babygirl, spread your wings and fly. Secure that bag. Until next time....
